You and I see/interpret the world and the narrative control attempts of the ruling class very differently (in fact, quite the opposite). If one listens to the ruling class, especially their primary marketers (i.e., politicians, businesses, media), one will hear the clarion call repeatedly that growth is great, beneficial, and the only means of addressing our various predicaments/problems (and I'm certain this has nothing to do with the fact that they own the institutions and industries that profit from this). They are not in any way that I can see fostering and encouraging a narrative of 'doom' (except perhaps when they have latched onto a 'crisis' they can leverage for their ongoing pillaging of the national treasuries; and then they always approach such with a 'solution' in hand which of course benefits them in some way).

And if your sense is that those who highlight the issues (such as the Honest Sorcerer and many others including myself) are ‘laying down quietly’ then you are probably reacting emotionally to the message rather than listening to the suggestions made to help steer us through our predicaments. Many of us are advocating radical degrowth of our human experiment (because ecological overshoot is our primary predicament) and simplification of our living arrangements (because complex technologies and social structures exacerbate our overshoot), especially through a distancing with the current sociopolitical and socioeconomic structures that have led us into the bottleneck we are in. Starving the beast may be the best approach to undermining it.

Finally, I would argue your 'technical solutions' are very likely the exact opposite of what we need given the increasing evidence that our widespread and increasing use of complex technologies is what has helped in a very significant way to put us into global overshoot. But that approach is the one that is destroying our ecological systems and being pushed by the ruling class who are profiting immensely from it.
