Thank you for this perspective Megan. It aligns very much with mine that has developed over the last decade plus of exploring these and related topics. The rabbit hole that brought me here was the documentary Collapse featuring the late Michael Ruppert. His argument regarding Peak Oil and its implications was compelling and led me back into my graduate work of archaeology and Joseph Tainter's The Collapse of Complex Societies. It was only a matter of time before I came upon William Catton's Overshoot that resonated with my early university studies in biology, although I missed it when it was first published as I drifted into anthropology about that time. Not sure if you're aware of Erik Michael's writings at Problems, Predicaments and Technology (https://problemspredicamentsandtechnology.blogspot.com) but I believe you would find his work quite similar to yours and Bill Rees', and extends it towards the illusions and denial that humanity engages in to avoid looking at the predicament of overshoot directly.
