More and more I’m leaning towards the belief that there is absolutely little, if anything, that can be done to stop the slow-motion train wreck that our expansion, development of complex societies, and finally leveraging of fossil fuels has led to.
When the reversion to the mean occurs (and overshoots in a negative fashion as always happens before some form of ‘balance’ is, if ever, reached), I have to wonder if any of our species makes it out the other side of the ecological bottleneck we’ve created. The world’s other species probably would hope for a different answer to that than ours would…
