If we are into ecological overshoot as much as the evidence would tend to suggest, then all our planning/hoping (especially if we’re basing this upon voluntary/integrity-based ‘austerity’) is simply bargaining behaviour to avoid the anxiety-provoking thoughts of our reality. My guess is that nature will have to do what we seem incapable of doing…and we’re not going to enjoy/like the methods imposed by nature; not at all.
