I would wager to guess that the vast, vast majority of folks ignore/deny the negative consequences of both individual and societal actions/behaviours. Virtually everything has pro and con aspects to it and which side one comes down on depends very much upon their interpretive context (and whether they are attempting to justify/rationalise some decision/behaviour). One of the big ones for me deals with the whole narrative around 'progress/growth' and the constant refrain from those that benefit from the many Ponzi schemes inherent within this that it has only beneficial consequences and/or if any negative ones arise they are easily 'solved' by human ingenuity and our technological prowess.
