I am all too aware that there is zero I can do to stop such ecologically-destructive actions. I have made many deputations and written many letters over the decades, and at various political levels, coming to the conclusion long ago that the ‘average’ person has zero agency over such profit-seeking ventures or government policies — the ruling elite would never stand for the masses disrupting their revenue streams via wealth extraction and generation.

It has also become clear that so-called representative democracy and the ideals our so-called ‘leaders’ and media associate with such a sociopolitical system is a scam perpetrated as a means to mollify and control our complex society’s population. In fact, it is probably one of the most profound frauds ever perpetrated as a means of control (along with the narrative that a cabal within the elite can equitably and most beneficently for society-at-large create and distribute fiat currency and debt/credit).

At the most recent meeting in my community, our town councillor stated quite clearly that anything the developer wanted, he would support. Perhaps outdoing his behaviour at another one a few years back when he was the ONLY person during a very well-attended one supporting a large development in the area. Every community member in attendance spoke out against the development, with only this councillor in support.

All of this and similar situations has convinced me that there is zero hope for our species and addressing our ecological overshoot. We have a sociopathic elite doubling down on the very processes that have led us to a dead-end path.

So sad…
